Jeff Passolt ranks among the career scoring leaders in St. Cloud State hockey.
Jeff Passolt ’81 anchors the news for KMSP-TV in Minneapolis-St. Paul. The National Television Academy’s Upper Midwest Chapter honored Passolt with Emmy awards as best news anchor in 1997, 2004 and 2006.
Passolt gained broadcast experience on UTVS-TV, St. Cloud State University’s student-run station. The journalism major and four-year hockey player was named a Brainard Scholar as an exceptional student-athlete. He still holds one of the individual records from the University's Division II hockey era.
His connection to the University remains strong. He speaks to campus groups such as the Society of Professional Journalists. He emcees important events, such as the Day with the Stanley Cup celebration that featured Bret Hedican and Matt Cullen, members of the 2006 NHL champion Carolina Hurricanes.
The St. Louis Park native is active in the community, serving as honorary chair for America’s Walk for Diabetes and the MS Walk. He serves on the Board of the University of Minnesota Diabetes Research Center and hosts Animal Humane Society Pet Walk, the Herb Brooks Foundation gala, the Crohn’s Society Walk and the Husky Sportacular.
