Search Advisory Committee Updates
November 29, 2006
The St. Cloud State University Presidential Search Advisory Committee, chaired by Metropolitan State University President Wilson Bradshaw, held its second meeting on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, on the St. Cloud State University campus. The committee was joined by Dr. Jan Greenwood, of Greenwood & Associates, the consulting firm selected for this search by the Office of the Chancellor.
After President Bradshaw’s welcome and introductions of all in attendance, Dr. Greenwood reviewed and discussed the timeline for the search, the national “market” context for the search, paths by which candidates will enter the pool [the position announcement has been placed in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education, and Women in Higher Education], and the responsibilities of members of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee.
Dr. Greenwood then invited committee members to articulate their senses of the primary goals facing the next president and the characteristics that president will need in order to meet those goals. The committees’ responses will be used to inform a detailed position description that will be shared with candidates. The committee agreed that the Presidential Search website should include a function that allows interested members of the community to submit their responses to the same two questions.
Over the next several weeks, the candidate pool will be developed through applications, nominations, and recruitment by the consultant. Contact information for applications and nominations is included in the position announcement on the Presidential Search website.
The next committee meeting is scheduled for January 22, 2007.
