Search Advisory Committee Updates
October 16, 2006
The St. Cloud State University Presidential Search Advisory Committee, chaired by Metropolitan State University President Wilson Bradshaw, held its first meeting on Monday, October 16, 2006, on the St. Cloud State University campus.
The committee was briefed by MnSCU System officers on a range of organizational and policy issues. Following introductions and opening remarks by the chair, members heard a presentation from Kristine Kaplan, Assistant General Counsel, regarding confidentiality guidelines based on state data practices legislation. Dr. Whitney Harris, Executive Director for Equal Opportunity and Diversity, discussed the Board of Trustees’ commitment to working affirmatively to create an inclusive pool of candidates. Associate Vice Chancellor Linda Skallman reviewed the progress of the Office of the Chancellor in selecting a search consultant firm, and outlined the firm's advisory and recruiting services.
The committee viewed a draft version of the Presidential Search website (http://www.stcloudstate.edu/presidentialsearch/default.asp), including a tutorial segment regarding confidentiality and data practices laws. The committee's website will provide links to the Search Advisory Committee roster, MnSCU Board policies and procedures governing searches, and summaries of Search Advisory Committee meetings. Through the website, the university community and the broader community will be able to stay informed about the search process and the progress of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee.
The next steps in the search process include the Chancellor's selection, in consultation with the committee chair, of a search consultant, and the chair's distribution of a timeline for the search process.
