2009 Math-Science Computer Camp
Program Information
Purpose: This program is designed to expose students from underrepresented groups to science, math, and computers in fun and innovative ways. While specially designed for students of color and girls, all students are welcome to participate.
Program Activities: A 5-day program featuring experiences and exercises involving computers, mathematics, and the natural sciences. Students will also engage in recreational and outdoor activities, and may go on field trips.
Eligibility: Students currently in 3rd through the 8th grades. No previous experience with computers or science is required. All eligible students are encouraged to apply.
Selection Criteria:
1) Priority given to members of groups underrepresented in science fields
2) Willingness to learn and cooperate
3) Students in 3rd-8th grades as of September 2008
4) The program will seek ethnic, gender, regional, and social diversity among participants.

Please note that not all applicants may be accepted because of a limited number of positions.
Program Dates: June 14, 2009 - July 2, 2009: June 14-18 (3rd and 4th grade students); June 21-25 (5th and 6th grade students); June 28-July 2 (7th and 8th grade students).
Cost: All students applying to this program must pay a $10.00 non-refundable application fee. Tuition fees, ranging from $0 to $300, are calculated using a sliding scale based on family income. Financial assistance is available. Total cost per student is $800.00.
Payment and Cancellation Policy: Tuition fees are due with return of acceptance form. Refunds of the tuition fees will be given only if cancellations are made two weeks prior to program date.

Application Deadline: Application forms are due by April 17, 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Acceptance Notice: Students will be notified of acceptance after May 15, 2009, or shortly after submission of application materials. Acceptance letters will provide additional information on time of arrival and departure, clothing, housing, activities, and fee payment. It is difficult to answer questions about status of applications prior to the selection process. Please await notice. Persons applying online may be able to ascertain their status through the Internet. Applications that are received after April 17, 2009 may be placed on a waiting list.
