The SCSU Planetarium Staff Welcomes You!

In 1973, the planetarium was opened to SCSU students and the community. There are now 100+ shows presented to over 4000 people each year. The SCSU Planetarium has proven to be a unique educational facility that strives to educate university students and the people of central Minnesota about the natural world above them.
September 17, 2007, we finalized the installation of the brand new planetarium system. With this new system comes more diversified shows with more stars, constellations, motions, lights, and special effects!

We offer two options, "Class or Group Show" and "Astronomy Public Nights." Listed below you can click on each of these two types of offerings to learn how to make your reservation.

To Find Out More Information and to Make Reservations for either the Planetarium Shows and/or Public Nights click on the appropriate title below:

  • Class or Group Show Scheduling - This page provides information for scheduling planetarium shows for your class or group. Shows are free, but require scheduling, typically a few months in advance.
  • Astronomy Public Nights - The when, what, and where of the semi-annual open house for the planetarium where telescopes are set up for viewing of actual celestial objects and planetarium shows are given for the general public.
