News and Announcements for 2004

Last year the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) focused on communicating the university’s strategic plan to all sectors of the university community and held forums to discuss the five priority strategic goals and solicit campus-wide feedback. As a result of feedback from these college and university forums , the priority strategic goals were revised and then approved in November 19, 2003.

This year, the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) has focused on the next stage of the plan: developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • KPIs are measures monitored to determine the health, effectiveness and efficiency of an organization.
  • KPIs help the organization think strategically about itself and its environment.
  • KPIs are specific, objective measures that tell an organization if it is accomplishing its goals.

The SPC has now drafted KPIs for each of the five priority strategic goals and will soon be holding open university forums for all students and bargaining units (such as AFSCME, FA, MAPE, MSUAASF, etc.) to gain community input on these KPIs. The university forums, which will focus on KPIs for specific themes, will be held at the following times and locations:
