The meeting was called to order by L. Robinson.

  1. Minutes
    The minutes were distributed for review and accepted as distributed. L. Robinson distributed copies of the working agenda.
  2. Dates and Times for Strategic Planning Committee Meetings
    Not discussed.
  3. Reading List
    An updated reading list will be sent to committee members. The Survey and Interpretation of Responses to President's Survey will be put on reserve in the library.
  4. Fall Opening Days Forum on Strategic Planning
    L. Robinson briefly outlined agenda for opening day forum.
  5. Presentations
    Angelo Gentile and Bill Rodgers discussed the Image Team. They distributed copies of the Campaign for Achieving a New Market Position Promotional Plan for 1996-1999. John Berling discussed campus technology. He stated that the infrastructure is place between most buildings on campus. He also informed the committee that all dorms will be on-line with the interior campus this fall. Myron Umerski spoke on ending the instability in enrollment planning and attracting new students and retaining those already on campus.
  6. Coordination of all Data Gathering (Surveys, etc.)
    Not discussed.
  7. Other Loose Ends
    K. Schmid distributed copy of UNews Profile Questionnaire with the suggestion that a profile on a strategic planning committee member would be of interest to the campus community.
  8. The committee agreed to revisit the vision statement in the fall with specific attention to: are we a service institution or a customer need premise; what the word intellectual means; and global vs. international.
  9. The next scheduled meeting is Friday, September 6, 1996 at 7:45 AM, North Voyageur Room.
