Post-Award Administration: Modifying Your Project
Budget adjustments may or may not be allowed by the granting agency. Refer to your grant award or granting agency guidelines to determine if reallocations are allowed and how to submit your request to the funding agency. Agency approval is required if the adjustment exceeds a certain percentage of a specific line item or of the entire budget amount. For further assistance, contact the Grants Accountant in the Business Office AS 122 or your Sponsored Programs Grants Director.
For minor budget adjustments, send an email to the Grants Accountant identifying the object codes to transfer budget to and from, the amount of the transfer request, and a brief justification for the adjustment needed.
NO COST EXTENSIONS
If you anticipate not being able to complete your research by the end date of your grant, an extension will be needed. Refer to your grant award or granting agency guidelines for the process on requesting a no cost extension. When official approval has been received, forward a copy of the grant extension approval to the Grants Accountant in the Business Office AS 122 and to the Office of Sponsored Programs. If you need assistance with the process, work with the Grants Accountant or your Sponsored Programs Grants Director.
Should major revisions be needed on your grant, work with your Sponsored Programs Grants Director for assistance with revising the budget (including justification) and submitting to the granting agency for approval.
