Are you wondering what the first day of classes will be like? Worried about making new friends? Do you have a hundred and one questions about what college is really like?
You’ve got questions, and we’ve got answers!!
During the first week of August you should have received a mailing (pdf) about New Student Orientation Welcome Weekend. Your orientation to St. Cloud State University begins with Welcome Weekend, which has programming for all new first year students Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21, 2011. Check the student schedule for full details.
Your orientation programming doesn’t end with Welcome Weekend:
Respect and Responsibility Program
As a St. Cloud State University student, you are now part of a vibrant and diverse campus community. To help foster a welcoming and safe community, we require that all new students complete the Respect and Responsibility program as part of their ongoing Orientation. You will receive more information on part one and two of the program through your HuskyNet e-mail account. If the program is not completed by the deadline noted in the email a hold will be placed on your registration for the next semester.
Part One: Informed on Sexual Assault is an online educational course that addresses the issue of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and dating violence on the college campus. You will receive an email sent to your HuskyNet account from the Women's Center with instructions and the code needed to access this course. We encourage you to complete this course prior to classes starting if possible.
Part Two: Community through Diversity is a one-hour long on-campus workshop on creating a caring and respectful community. Information on registering for a workshop will be sent to you through your HuskyNet e-mail during the first weeks of your first semester.
For more information on the Respect and Responsibility Program, visit www.stcloudstate.edu/sld/respect and if you have questions about part two, Community through Diversity, you can e-mail respect@stcloudstate.edu.
Husky Kick-off
Optional programming to help you make a successful and fun-filled transition to the university continues through Husky Kick-off, our beginning of term activities for all SCSU students during the first 2 weeks of classes.
Fall Semester
Your Welcome Weekend guide will also include a detailed schedule of programs designed for all students taking place throughout the fall semester and information on valuable resources you’ll need during your first several weeks of the semester.
All new entering first-year (NEF) students are charged a $35 fee and all new transfer (NET) students are charged a $20 fee for Orientation. All new students are charged an $8 fee for Respect and Responsibility.
