St. Cloud State’s student-run Husky Productions won first place in the First Annual Global Media Awards for College Sports at a ceremony conducted in Atlanta, Ga. The student-led telecast that records the play-by-play action of men’s home hockey games won the "Best Live Game or Live Event" title in competition with entries from Bell State University, Baylor University, the Big East Conference and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
A panel of judges selected Husky Productions entries for nomination in five of the competition’s 10 categories, in itself an honor as other nominees included ESPN, CBS Sports, Ball State University, Baylor University, Ohio State and the University of Miami (Fla.). Husky Productions was nominated three times in the special feature category and once in the outstanding highlight package category for "SCSU Men’s Hockey History," "The Fighting Sioux Nickname" and "SCSU Senior Night and Pregame Montage."
The awards celebrate the excellence of college sports video production, including work by colleges and universities, national and regional sports networks, and technology innovators.
