Beaver Islands focus of another slide show

A slide show on the Beaver Islands is an example of how the Internet is being used to reduce marketing and communication costs.
The university is soliciting 50 photos on life around the 30-plus islands that form a natural maze in the Mississippi River adjacent to campus. A woodchuck emerging from its burrow and wild strawberry blossoms are among the submissions for a slide show to be published on the university Web site. The project leverages volunteer photographers and one staff member. A print piece, by comparison, would require more staff and incur production and mailing costs.
“Springtime in the Beaver Islands” is one of more than 50 photo slide shows including a rowing regatta on the Mississippi and geography student photos from their travels around the world.
