Student employees honored

Last year, one in five St. Cloud State students worked in a university-funded position on or off campus, earning an average of $3,148 each. Several were recognized in the 2009 Student Employee of the Year competition during a ceremony on April 8.

Patrick Brama, junior community development major from Bethel, Minn., was named Student Employee of the Year for his work in the Miller Center library circulation department. He now goes on to state competition.

Runners-up for the title were:

1. Tomi Kirckof, senior elementary education major, Westport, Minn., who works in the Lindgren Child Care Center.
2. Justin Maas, junior mass communications major, New Hope, Minn., who works in the mass communications department.
3. Quincy Nang, junior bio-chemistry major, Libreville Estuaire, Gabon, Africa, who works for Public Safety.

Students were chosen based on their reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism and uniqueness of contribution. St. Cloud State students work on campus and within the community in such places as elementary schools, a women’s shelter, the St. Cloud Recreation Department, county correctional programs and Paramount Arts.
