Living the dream

A young man who died, at the age of 24, after just four days as an officer in the St. Paul Police Department is being remembered by his family with a scholarship endowment that will help St. Cloud State criminal justice majors interested in law enforcement live their dreams.
Joseph “Joey” Plant '06, who earned his St. Cloud State degree in criminal justice, died of natural causes in January 2008, after four days of what he called “living his dream” of being a police officer with the St. Paul Police Department.
Criminal justice majors interested in law enforcement are eligible for the scholarship, with preference given to candidates who are involved in community service and are interested in physical fitness, as Plant was an avid runner. Recipient of the first Joseph E. Plant "Living the Dream" Memorial Scholarship in Criminal Justice is junior James Demko, Lake Elmo, Minn.
