A recent news item reminded us that the Herberger College of Business accounting program has a long history of turning out star graduates. Al Heinen '78, was recently appointed chairman of the board for Eide Bailly, which has 1,200 employees in 20 offices and was this year recognized by Wealth Magazine as one of the top 25 CPA firms in the country. The new board chairman focuses his professional practice on serving nonprofit organizations. Heinen sits on the board of the St. Cloud State University Foundation and received the 2008 Herberger College of Business Leadership Award in recognition of his contributions to business, society and the university.
Also on St. Cloud State’s long list of star alumni is Gordon Viere '75, since 1989 chief executive officer for LarsonAllen. The provider of assurance, accounting, tax, consulting and advisory services has 1,400 employees, offices in 10 states and $203 million in annual revenues.
