Winter Institute to focus on China

“Sino-American Economic Relations” will be the focus of the 47th annual St. Cloud State University Economic Education Winter Institute Feb. 27. Speakers will discuss the impact of the growing and changing Chinese economy on the U.S., a matter of particular interest at a time when the nation’s economy is in crisis.
Featured speakers will be Wing Thye Woo, one of the world’s leading experts on East Asian economics, particularly China, Indonesia and Malaysia, and Nicholas R. Lardy, considered the top Western expert on the Chinese economy. Luncheon speaker is Jack W. Hou, president of the Chinese Economists Society.
The 15th Annual Economic Outlook to be held the evening prior to the Institute will focus on the outlook for 2009 and China’s influence at the local level.
