St. Cloud State graduate Daneen Bergquist '07 has received a Vincent L. Hawkinson Foundation Scholarship in recognition of her peace and justice work.
Bergquist, of Maple Plain, Minn., graduated with majors in applied sociology and international relations. Her peace and justice work has included conducting research on HIV/AIDS in Africa, volunteering in New Zealand and South Africa and interning with Kids Against Hunger of Central Minnesota.
In the summer of 2007 she worked as an external human rights coordinator for Thirdway, a human rights organization based in the Netherlands.
Hawkinson Scholarships are aimed at furthering the commitment to peace and justice of the late Rev. Vincent L. Bergquist is one of seven students from schools in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and North and South Dakota who received awards.
