Take up the challenge

Thursday, November 1, 2007

Alumna Deeann J. Griebel ’76 has challenged St. Cloud State alumni, students and friends to contribute $100,000 toward the continuing renovation of Centennial Hall.  The financial services executive will match donations up to $100,000, dollar-for-dollar, through March 2008.

Griebel's challenge grant is part of the SCSU Foundation effort to raise $2.2 million toward the $15.2 million renovation of the former library. The state of Minnesota is funding the balance of the project, expected to be complete in spring 2008.

Griebel began her career as a teacher, moved into accounting and then became a leading financial adviser.  She is the managing director of investments for Wachovia Securities, the nation's third-largest full service broker-dealer.

The five-floor Centennial Hall houses the G.R. Herberger College of Business, the bookstore, and such student services as the Advising Center, Career Services, Student Disability Services, the Multicultural Academic Center and the Honors Program.
