New medical director

A native of Sauk Rapids, Minn., has been appointed medical director of Student Health Services at St. Cloud State, which has a staff of doctors, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses, lab technicians and support people. The clinic handles more than 10,000 student visits annually.
Appointee Dr. Brent Nielsen has worked in college health at Indiana University, where he was a staff physician, then chief of staff, and at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he was a staff physician and clinical manager of general medicine at the University Health Service.
In a typical year approximately half of the student body uses Student Health Services. In addition to providing medical care, the staff reaches nearly 5,000 students each year delivering presentations on topics such as stress management, drug/alcohol education, risky behavior and relationships.
