Tuesday, May 1, 2007
After the death this semester of a longtime SCSU professor, memorial gifts from family, friends and colleagues and a bequest from his estate endowed the Kent Robertson Community Development Scholarship Fund, which is reserved for students majoring in his field.
Robertson joined SCSU 24 years ago as director of the local and urban affairs program in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. At the time of his death he was director of the university’s community development program.
Directly and through his students Robertson influenced community and city planning locally, statewide and nationally. He placed student interns in towns across Minnesota and in government agencies across the United States.
In addition to taking an active interest in his students’ academic, professional and personal lives, he was known for his open-mindedness, energy, good humor and accessibility.
