Survive & Thrive conference

Leading voices in the worlds of medicine, emergency response and the humanities will gather for an Oct. 24-27 conference to raise awareness about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).
The Survive & Thrive conference will feature speakers, panels and performances at St. Cloud's River's Edge Convention Center and Pioneer Place on Fifth.
Among the keynote presenters will be:
An estimated 325,000 Americans die each year from SCA, which is an abrupt loss of blood circulation due to the heart's failure to properly contract.
Organizers expect survivors, caregivers, families, scientists, academics, medical personnel and others to attend the conference. View the event flyer (PDF) for a list of presenters and panels.
Unlike many conferences, Survive & Thrive has a festival component. A play, concerts, poetry readings and art displays will be featured with scientific demonstrations, CPR instruction and best practices of emergency medical services, according to the conference news release.
St. Cloud State entities supporting the conference include the Center Continuing Studies, Herberger School of Business, College of Liberal Arts, School of Health and Human Services, School of the Arts and the College of Science and Engineering.
