Earth Day Run 2011
Tuesday, March 22, 2011
Minnesota's long winter is giving way to excitement about Minnesota's great spring run.
Enthusiasm for St. Cloud State's April 15-16 Earth Day Run is evident in the 2,266 people who had registered for footraces as of March 14.
That is about 500 more registered participants compared to the same time last year, according to Cory Bemis, race director.
The races have drawn 4,000 to 5,000 participants in past years, according to Bemis. View a photo slideshow from the 2008 event.
Now in its 12th year, the Earth Day Run features two races Friday and three on Saturday:
The weekend opens with the St. Cloud Times Health & Fitness Expo, noon to 8 p.m. Friday in the Halenbeck Hall Fieldhouse. Local, regional and national vendors will sell, sample and display the latest running and fitness products.
Join the pasta feed 4-8 p.m. Friday in the fieldhouse. Purchase tickets at the door or with your race registration.
Participants can pick up race packets at the fieldhouse 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
New this year is a tie-in with another signature St. Cloud State event, the Mississippi Music Fest. Bands begin 11 a.m. Saturday at the fieldhouse, playing live at the finish line through the completion of the days’ races.
Earth Day Run is Sports Facilities and Campus Recreation event.
