SCSU Now Flood volunteers neededSunday, March 22, 2009
Officials are calling for volunteers to battle flood waters locally and in Fargo-Moorhead. The Red River is threatening the Fargo-Moorhead area on the border between Minnesota and North Dakota. Locally, the Sauk River is overflowing its banks in Stearns County and Little Rock Lake, which adjoins the Mississippi River, is flooding in Benton County. Fargo-Moorhead Volunteer Connection is organizing a March 27 bus to the Fargodome. Volunteers will fill sandbags in the arena or pile sandbags on dikes. The bus leaves 6 a.m. from Atwood Memorial Center, returning same day about 8 p.m. Dress for windy, cold, snowy, rainy, conditions. Bring a set of dry
clothing for the ride home. Food and beverages will be provided by the
Salvation Army. Register online or call 320-255-7265. St. Cloud area Stearns County and Benton County emergency management departments need volunteers for sandbag filling and distribution in the St. Cloud area through March 30. The Retired Senior Volunteer Program is coordinating. Call Angie Trulson at 320-255-7265. << Previous | Archive | Next >>
