SCSU student-athletes had a terrific 2005-06 season. Achievements included:

• The women’s basketball team advanced to the Elite Eight of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II championships for the second year in a row, this time going all the way to semi-final play.
• The men’s tennis team established itself as one of the region’s top NCAA Division II programs by taking the North Central Conference (NCC) title for the fifth year in a row and receiving a NCAA Division II tournament bid for the sixth year in a row.
• The men’s hockey team returned to the WCHA Final Five, where they took runner-up honors. The Huskies finished the 2005-06 season ranked among the nation’s top 15 Division I hockey programs.
• The men’s golf team won the NCC championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II championships, where the Huskies placed 17th in the nation and senior Chris Little, accounting major from Elk River, won seventh place.
• The men’s basketball team received a bid to the 2006 NCAA Division II tournament, their fourth since 2000.
• The women’s swimming and diving team placed 12th in the nation at the NCAA Division II championships, the men’s team placed 19th, and diver Nate Jimerson, meteorology major from Apple Valley, placed second in the one- and three-meter events.
