Dr. Tommie Lee Jackson, professor of English at St. Cloud State University, has recently authored "An Invincible Summer," published by African World Press, Inc. Her work is a compilation of critical analyses of works by African American authors and Caribbean authors.

Jackson, a professor of both African literature and Caribbean literature courses, wrote the collection of essays after being inspired by the works she was teaching. After examining the authors' styles, ideas and themes, she compared them with one another. "I wanted to bring them together in a unified way," Jackson said.

Authors surveyed in her work include Mariama Bā, Simone Schwarz-Bart, Buchi Emecheta, Beryl Gilroy, Zora Neale Hurston, Paule Marshall, Toni Morrison, and Alice Walker.

Jackson also authored, "The Existentialist Fiction of Ayi Kwei Armah, Albert Camus and Jean-Paul Sartre," published in 1997.
