Douglas Vinzant, vice president for finance and administration.
Douglas Vinzant, vice president for finance and administration at St. Cloud State University since December 2012, has resigned to accept a similar post at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
Vinzant will remain on staff until June 7. A national search for a replacement will be initiated soon.
President Earl H. Potter III said he regrets Vinzant’s departure and acknowledged an unusual situation had presented itself to Vinzant.
“Doug had been offered the position at Southern Mississippi last summer before coming to St. Cloud State. A series of leadership changes at Southern Mississippi led to the offer being presented again last month,” Potter noted.
Potter added, “I appreciate the opportunity this provides Doug and know that it will get him closer to his family.”
Said Vinzant: “While this was an unexpected turn of events, I am very excited to return to the place I grew up and where most of my family still resides to help the new president at the University of Southern Mississippi. I also very much appreciate the opportunity I’ve had to work for President Potter here at St. Cloud State. This is a great place, and it is hard to say good-bye to so many fine people.”
Potter praised the work Vinzant has accomplished in such a short time, especially concerning transparency in budget development and education.
“Doug has done an incredible job of helping us establish systems that will pay dividends in our budget development and review for years to come,” Potter said.
