Former KVSC sports director Zack Fisch was ranked No. 9 on the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America’s All-America Program and has been named as the St. Cloud Rox Baseball Club’s play-by-play announcer.

Fisch, an Olathe, Kan., native, is well-known in Central Minnesota as the voice of St. Cloud State University Husky Hockey on KVSC 88.1 FM. During his four years with KVSC he also served as television play-by-play announcer for UTVS Husky Productions, play-by-play announcer for the Granite City Lumberjacks Hockey Club, play-by-play announcer for the Rochester Honkers baseball team and play-by-play announcer for the for Fox Sports North Prep Zone.

He graduated magna cum laude with his Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications from St. Cloud State University May 5.

“It’s quite humbling to receive this honor. There are a lot of sports broadcasters around the nation, and to know you’re among the best is very exciting,” Fisch said. “This isn’t just big for me, but for St. Cloud State as well, because it’s the first time SCSU has had an all-American. So, hopefully it helps show how good our mass communications program is.”

Fisch also is the winner of eight Associated Press awards, including first place for sports play-by-play in 2010 and 2011 and first place for sports reporting in 2011.

“Zack Fisch exemplifies the amazing opportunities that exist at KVSC and the Department of Mass Communications,” KVSC station manager Jo McMullen-Boyer said. “He purposely sought out SCSU while in high school to gain Division 1 hockey play-by-play experience. This is something very few Division 1 schools offer student broadcasters. Zack took his dream and we were able to help bring it one step closer to reality. I have admired his work ethic, drive and excellent skills as a play by play talent and we're very proud of these rankings and collegiate achievements.”
