Higher education diversity expert Jeffrey Milem will lead diversity training Jan. 27 in conjunction with the Power in Diversity Leadership Conference.

Jeffrey Milem, a nationally known diversity trainer and researcher of diversity outcomes in education, will lead five hours of diversity training Jan. 27 at Centennial Hall, Room 224.

The training opportunity, which will be broken into two sessions, is part of the Jan. 27-29 Power in Diversity Leadership Conference. Co-sponsoring Milem's presentation is the Office of Diversity and Multiculturalism, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.

Target audience for this extraordinary learning experience includes diversity officers, staff, faculty, diversity recruiters and community members.

Milem's training sessions are free. Lunch will be available at the conference site for a fee. St. Cloud State has other dining options in Atwood Memorial Center.

The first session, titled "Why Diversity Matters," runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The second session, "Why Diversity is Important: How to Transform Your Organization," will run from 2-5 p.m.

Milem is the Ernest W. McFarland Distinguished Professor in Leadership for Education Policy and Reform in the College of Education at the University of Arizona. He chairs the Department of Education Policy Studies and Practice. He also holds a courtesy appointment in the university's Department of Medicine.
