Choral Connections Concert

Matthew Ferrell will conduct the Choral Connections Concert, a collaborative concert celebrating the choral art.
The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will host local youth choirs for a vocal music concert 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at Ritsche Auditorium.

Guest ensembles include the St. Cloud Cathedral High School, Sauk Rapids-Rice High School, St. Cloud Apollo High School, St. Cloud Tech High School, Saint John's Preparatory School, Sartell High School and the Youth Chorale of Central Minnesota.

Among the Concert Choir performances are two Haitian pieces: Sydney Guillaume's "Dominus Vobiscum" and "Gede Nibo" by Sten Kallman. The latter song is about the Voodoo god of death.
Leading the concert will be Matthew Ferrell, interim director of choral activities. Ferrell holds a doctorate in choral conducting from the University of Miami and a master's in choral conducting from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Admission is $5. Senior citizens and children 12 and younger are $3. St. Cloud State students and employees are free with an SCSU ID. Purchase tickets at the door.
Parking is free on streets adjacent to campus and a dollar per hour in the 4th Avenue Parking Ramp.
The Music Department leads students and the campus community toward regional, national and international achievement. Each year more than $50,000 in music scholarships are awarded to music majors and non-majors.
