Climatologist speaks Oct. 24

Robert Henson, author and climatologist, will speak Oct. 24 at the St. Cloud Holiday Inn.

Author and researcher Robert Henson will keynote the Northern Plains Winter Storm Conference Oct. 24-25 at the St. Cloud Holiday Inn.

A noted climatologist, Henson will present "A Cold Place and a Warming Planet: The Future of Winter Weather on the Northern Plains" 1 p.m. Oct. 24.

Henson's portion of the conference is free and open to the public.

The sixth annual conference is sponsored by St. Cloud State University’s Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.

Henson authored the 2006 book “The Rough Guide to Climate Change.”

He has written articles for Discover, Nature, Scientific American and other magazines. He penned more than 200 scripts for the former public radio series "The Weather Notebook."

He is a writer and editor for University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) which manages the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).

Henson is managing editor of the UCAR Quarterly newsletter.

The Northern Plains Winter Storm Conference encourages students and first-time participants to present a talk or poster.
