St. Cloud State is participating in STEM Day at the Fair, the annual celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics Aug. 25 at the Minnesota State Fair in Falcon Heights.
STEM Day at the Fair is expected to include more than 25 exhibits, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Carousel Park, near the Grandstand.
Joining St. Cloud State at the fair will be exhibitors such as Microsoft, Minnesota High Tech Association, Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota and the Bell Museum of Natural History.
STEM Day at the Fair is sponsored by the Minnesota STEM Network, an alliance of individuals and organizations advancing STEM ideas in education, workforce development and community engagement.
Leading the St. Cloud State exhibit will be Carolyn Williams, associate dean for multicultural affairs & STEM initiatives.
Williams is also a member of the board of directors of SciMathMN, a non-profit education and business coalition that promotes K-12 science, mathematics and technology education based on research, national standards and effective practices.
Williams is planning to lead a St. Cloud State contingent to the April 27-29 USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C. The national celebration of the sciences debuted in 2010 with a two-day exposition featuring more than 500 leading science and engineering organizations.
