The SCSU Community Garden planting day is 9 a.m. on May 7.

Although the weather may not seem like it wants to cooperate, the first planting day at the St. Cloud State University Community Garden is just a week away.

It is slated for 9 a.m. May 7 at the SCSU Community Garden, Fifth Avenue South near Sixth Street.

Participants are asked to bring a shovel, a pair of gloves and any other equipment they might think is helpful as well as some food to share. The event is open to anyone involved with or interested in becoming involved with a community garden in the greater St. Cloud area. And since it’s the day before Mother’s Day, participants can bring Mom along for some quality time together.

A second planting day will be at 9 a.m. on May 15.
