�Sexuality as a Human Right: A conversation about reproductive justice� is at noon April 20 at the Atwood Theatre.
Women on Wednesday opened its series addressing the issue of young women’s reproductive health and are closing it by addressing reproductive justice with “Sexuality as a Human Right: A conversation about reproductive justice” at noon April 20 at the Atwood Theatre.
The talk will discuss reproductive justice – power inequalities inherent in society limiting access to contraception and health care services – and clarifying the differences in reproductive rights and health.
- Nikki Madsen, associate director of Pro-Choice Resources. Madsen has worked in the field of sexuality for over a decade developing numerous nationally recognized programs including Emerge, an after-abortion support and discussion group, and the Birds & Bees Project’s Sexuality Residency, the nation’s first teacher training program in sexuality. Madsen completed research with the University of Minnesota’s Prevention Research Center specific to teachers’ perspectives and obstacles in delivering sexuality education.
- Wendy Brovold, communications and fundraising director at Pro-Choice Resources. She has been working on issues of reproductive justice and queer rights for nearly 15 years. She has worked with numerous nonprofits across the country including Our Bodies Ourselves and the National Network of Abortion Funds.
