Faculty grant proposals

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

March 18 is the application deadline for faculty long-term and research grants.

The Faculty Senate and the Office of Sponsored Programs promote faculty research through the twice-a-year Faculty Improvement Grants program.

Long-term grants may be used for postdoctoral study in the applicant's current discipline, study in a new discipline or field, on-campus activity contributing to curricular improvement, pursuit of a terminal degree, or travel to other institutions to observe and participate in programs. Typically, long-term grant funds do not support work that is part of the faculty member’s teaching responsibility.

Research grants fund a creative achievement and/or scholarly pursuit using recognized procedures in the faculty member’s discipline.

Meet the Faculty Research Grants Committee, which awards the grants.

To apply:

  • Download an application form from the Sponsored Programs website.
  • Present the completed application to your department Chair and college Dean for signatures. Allow enough time before the deadline to obtain these signatures.
  • Provide the necessary content and attachments. Sponsored Programs does not review applications for completeness or accuracy.
  • Submit the completed application (and the necessary copies for reviewers if required by the guidelines) to Sponsored Programs by 4:30 p.m. March 18.
