Karasik wins faculty award

Rona J. Karasik, director of the Gerontology Program and professor of community studies, is the recipient of the distinguished faculty award from the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE).

Gerontology is the science that studies the process of aging in various dimensions: social, cultural, psychological, biological, demographic, political, legal, economic, educational, business and programmatic

Karasik received the honor after being recognized as an educator whose teaching is impactful, exemplary, and innovative. Her specialization is in housing for older adults, intergenerational service learning, dementia, aging and developmental disabilities.

Karasik was presented with the award at AGHE’s 36th Annual Meeting and Educational Leadership Conference held recently in Reno, Nev.

AGHE is the educational branch of The Gerontological Society of America the nation’s oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging.
