Theatre season starts

Horton Foote, a Pulitzer Prize and two time Academy Award winner, wrote "The Roads to Home."
St. Cloud State University’s theatre department will bring the work of, Pulitzer Prize and two time Academy Award winning author, Horton Foote to life on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Dr. Bruce Hyde, Department of Theatre, Film Studies and Dance professor, will direct the Foote drama, "The Road to Home."
The play revolves around three women: Annie Long is a young woman lost and mentally unstable from a childhood tragedy; Vonnie Hayhurst’s Southern Baptist spirit is challenged by her husband’s infidelity; Mabel Votaugh’s life is grounded in gossip and domesticity.
It is a tale of family, community, and the triumph of the human spirit. In Foote’s writing triumph has tragic undercurrents and is seasoned with biting humor that the human condition often evokes.
The evening performances will be on the Arena Stage, located on the bottom level of the Performing Arts Center on campus, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 17. A matinee performance on Sunday, Oct. 18, will be at 2 pm. Doors open thirty minutes prior to the show.
St. Cloud State Students, Faculty and Staff will receive one free ticket with an I.D.
