New Web site for SCSU Survey
Tuesday, September 22, 2009
SCSU Survey, an ongoing survey research center of St. Cloud State, is celebrating its 30th year of service by updating its Web page, which covers the advances the center has made since its creation in 1980.
The original Web page, posted nearly 20 years ago, consisted of basic Microsoft Word files loaded in an html format. The new page has a modern design with a variety of links to better serve visitors, including information about staff, services, student opportunities and the results of past studies.
SCSU Survey began with Professor Steve Frank conducting campus and local area surveys using telephones, pencils and paper while working out of borrowed faculty offices. From its simplistic beginnings, the center has grown to five faculty directors and 11 student directors.
Since its creation, the center has expanded its services to include statewide surveys for government and nonprofit agencies by using computer-assisted telephone interviewing. That development enabled SCSU Survey to work with clients such as the Office of the Attorney General, the Minnesota State Lottery and the St. Cloud United Way. The center was also the first in the state to use cell phone numbers as a part of a random digit dial sample.
