The doctorate in educational administration and leadership is offered by the university´┐Żs College of Education

Sixteen professional educators -- all competitively selected -- are in the first group of students in the university's second doctoral program.

The doctorate in educational administration and leadership is offered by the university’s College of Education, which also offers 1) a master’s degree in educational administration and leadership; 2) administrative licensure tracks for principal, superintendent, special education director and community education director; and 3) specialist degree programs.

Students in the first cohort will earn their doctorate in educational administration and leadership after three years of coursework – offered primarily on weekends ‒ and a completed doctoral dissertation based on applied research.

SCSU introduced its first applied doctoral program – higher education administration – in fall 2007.

The new doctoral program is designed to enhance the administration and leadership skills of practicing school leaders in PK-12 schools.  "The doctorate provides a practical, rigorous and meaningful advanced program of study to meet the demands associated with the leadership of schools and districts operating in today’s dynamic political, social, cultural and economic arenas," according to Professor Kay Worner, program coordinator.

The doctoral program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.

Applications for a second cohort starting in fall 2010 are being accepted.  Interested students may visit www.stcloudstate.edu/graduatestudies or contact Dr. Kay Worner, program coordinator, at ktworner@stcloudstate.edu.

St. Cloud State also offers its 17,000 students more than 200 undergraduate and graduate programs in Business, Education, Fine Arts & Humanities, Science & Engineering and Social Science.
