ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Officers and nine new members have been named for the St. Cloud State University Alumni Association Board of Directors, which provides programming for more than 100,000 St. Cloud State alumni.

Sartell Middle School teacher Amy Trombley ’00 ’04, Sauk Rapids, Minn., was elected to another term as president and Clearview Elementary principal Paula Foley ’85, ’88, St. Cloud, Minn., has been named president-elect to serve as president in 2010-11.

Joining the Alumni Association board are nine new members, who will serve three-year terms:

David Aase, Northfield, Minn., is currently double majoring in real estate and entrepreneurship in the G.R. Herberger College of Business at St. Cloud State. He has worked in the Alumni Relations office for three years and plans to enroll in the master of business administration program in spring 2010. He has served as the vice president of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and donated his time and energy to the March of Dimes, Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity.

Kari Fabian ’87, Medina, Minn., is an internal medicine physician and medical director of the Metropolitan Wellness Center for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Health. Prior to the opening of the clinic in 2008, she was a primary care physician at North Clinic from 1995-2008. She received a bachelor of arts in biology from St. Cloud State and earned her doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Arthur Grachek ’62 ‘64, St. Cloud, Minn., a St. Cloud State University emeritus professor, served the Speech Communication Department at St. Cloud State from 1971-2003 and served as the department chair from 1974-87. He also was heavily involved with the International Studies Committee on campus, in which he directed several trips to Britain and a trip to Poland. He also served as a visiting emeriti professor at Binhai College of Nankai University in China. He served as the athletic faculty representative to the NCAA from 1987-2001. He received a bachelor of science in speech and theatre and a master of science in social science from St. Cloud State and earned a doctoral degree from Wayne State University.  He and his wife, Barbara, have endowed a scholarship through the St. Cloud State Foundation.

Lonny Gulden ’73, Eden Prairie, Minn., a self-employed technology recruiter, LinkedIn trainer and job search coach, has held numerous positions in the sales management and marketing field, including vice president of sales and marketing and president and CEO of his own consulting business. He serves on the Alumni Relations Technology Strike Force Committee, has served as a mentor in the St. Cloud State alumni mentoring program and manages the St. Cloud State alumni LinkedIn page. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from St. Cloud State.

Alvin Irby ’73, Fridley, Minn., a senior quality system engineer at Transoma Medical in New Brighton, Minn., is experienced in compliance and regulatory environments, project management and manufacturing operations. He is a certified quality auditor and has developed several internal auditing programs designed to improve department efficiency and production. As a student, he played on the varsity football team and was involved with the Black Students United for Racial Equality (B-SURE) group on campus. He received his bachelor’s degree social science from St. Cloud State and a master of business administration from the University of St. Thomas.

Richard Kelly ’92, ’04, St. Cloud, Minn., is a human service provider and operates several adult foster care homes in the St. Cloud area. As co-founder and chair of the South Side Neighborhood Association, he is highly involved with creating community and positive partnerships between St. Cloud State and the surrounding neighborhood. He serves on the St. Cloud State Master Plan Process and often is a greeter for the University’s move in day. Kelly is also a historian and serves as chair for the St. Cloud Historical and Neighborhood Preservation and is a Stearns History Museum docent. He also is proprietor of a small business in Cairo, Egypt. He earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communications and a master of arts in history from St. Cloud State.

Sherry McDermott ’99, ’07, St. Augusta, Minn., is a registered brokerage associate at Wells Fargo Wealth Management Group in St. Cloud, Minn.  She has provided her expertise in the corporate financial industry for more than eight years and has co-authored several articles published in scholarly journals.  She has volunteered in the St. Cloud community at the churches of St. Peter, Paul and Michael, St. Cloud Youth Soccer Association, Habitat for Humanity and United Way. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master of business administration from St. Cloud State.

Ramon Nuñez ’00, Carver, Minn., is the executive producer at Colle+McVoy in Minneapolis, Minn.  He is responsible for all TV, radio, video, interactive and alternative media content productions. The experienced integrated producer has marketed such brands as Citi, Minnesota State Lottery, Cenex, DuPont, Lee, Sports Illustrated, United Airlines, Subway and BMW. He has volunteered with the St. Cloud State mentoring program, Free Arts of Minnesota, Safezone and Youth Street Works Collaborative. He is completing his own feature documentary film about street, homeless and at-risk kids in America called "Invisible to You."  He was a member of the St. Cloud State football team and earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications in television/film production from St. Cloud State.

Elizabeth Sween ’03, Crystal, Minn., is a financial manager of UnitedHealth Group in Golden Valley, Minn. She earned her CPA certificate shortly after graduation.  She has maintained contact with St. Cloud State as a key campus recruiting team member, conducting on-campus presentations to organizations, and through interviewing prospective accounting and finance majors. She has volunteered at various organizations such as Junior Achievement, Hammer, Feed My Starving Children, Arc Village and at the Parish Community of St. Joseph. She earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State’s G.R. Herberger College of Business.

Working with Kristy Modrow-Ullah, interim director of alumni relations, the board of directors oversees alumni awards, student mentoring, affinity programs, travel, reunion and networking programs, as well as the St. Cloud State presence at the Minnesota State Fair and other opportunities for alumni involvement with the University.  The overall focus of the board of directors and the head of St. Cloud State alumni relations is to build and strengthen lifelong relationships between the University and its students, alumni, parents, faculty members and friends.
