ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud’s 13th Annual Juneteenth Celebration will take place at Riverside Park, University Drive and Killian Boulevard, from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 19.
Participants are asked to bring a dish and/or soft drinks for their family and others. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken and veggie patties, grills, games, prizes, African-American and African crafts and arts, music, Black history information and a chance to register to vote will be provided.
Juneteenth marks the anniversary of freed black slaves in Texas, who found out that they were free between June 13 and June 19, 1865 — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been passed.
Groups, organizations and agencies are welcome to set up tables and booths to share information about their activities and services for the community. For more information call 320-308-2553.
Sponsored by the African American Male Forum of St. Cloud in conjunction with St. Cloud State University Pre-College Programs, St. Cloud State Multicultural Student Services and N.A.P.S.
