Open House: Wick Addition
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
The 35,000 square-foot addition to the Robert H. Wick Science Building opened January 2009.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. -The 35,000 square-foot addition to Robert H. Wick Science Building is the focus of an open house celebration 11 a.m. Jan. 30 in Room 201-1 on the west side of the building.
Campus and community leaders will join legislators and students in celebrating the $14.5 million addition, which opened this semester. The addition consists of laboratory classrooms.
Among the presenters will be science faculty members Tamara Leenay and Heiko Schoenfuss and science students Laura Koopmeiners and Meghan McGee.
Wick Addition is important to the popular nursing program, established in 2002, which has dramatically increased the number of St. Cloud State students taking entry-level biology and chemistry classes. The addition also supports research in areas such as cancer and kidney disease, immunology, genetics and water toxicology.
The addition is part of a St. Cloud State science initiative that includes the $15 million renovation of Brown Hall and the proposed construction of a $44 million Integrated Science and Engineering Laboratory Facility.
