ST. CLOUD, Minn. – A Volunteer and Service-Learning Fair hosted by St. Cloud State University’s Volunteer Connection is bringing representatives from more than 30 nonprofit organizations together with students, faculty members, staff and members of the community who are interested in local service opportunities.
The Winter Volunteer Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the main lounge of the Atwood Memorial Center.
The fair is designed to give prospective volunteers an opportunity to learn about the St. Cloud area’s many nonprofit agencies, conveniently arranged in one place. The event also makes it possible for community organizations to recruit volunteers.
A few of the agencies that will have representatives available to answer questions and provide information about their volunteer openings include AmeriCorps VISTA, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota, District 5 M-8 Lions Clubs, Kids Against Hunger of Central Minnesota, Opportunity Manor Inc. and United Way of Central Minnesota.
The Volunteer Connection office at St. Cloud State holds a fair each semester to encourage students’ civic engagement and promote reciprocal service that benefits both the individual and the community. Faculty members attend to seek out ways to include service-learning or community service in coursework.
