Job tip: Upgrade your software skills

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

In the 21st Century, few things enhance employability better than software skills.

Students facing shrinking job opportunities and employees concerned about layoffs should consider burnishing their skill sets with free Technology Training sessions from St. Cloud State's Center for Information Systems and InforMedia Services.

Excel, Contribute, Access and Acrobat are just a few of the desktop applications you can learn in the lab in Centennial Hall's Room 351. Web applications include D2L, Facebook and YouTube. Creative applications include InDesign and Publisher. Statistical packages include Statistical Package for the Social Sciences and Statistical Analysis System.

Learn how to develop a relational database or launch a social-networking site. Try your hand at creating a brochure in Publisher. Master Contribute, the maintenance tool for Web pages. Gather tips and tricks for enhancing PowerPoint presentations.

Log in with your HuskyNet ID to search for upcoming classes. Use your Tech ID to register for a class.
