ST. CLOUD, Minn. – St. Cloud State University’s Service-Learning Advisory Committee and Volunteer Connection are hosting a Community Engagement Celebration Open House to give students involved in community service projects a chance to showcase their work. The event will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the Atwood Memorial Center Cascade Room. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served.
Attendees will be able to browse dozens of exhibits on a variety of volunteer, service-learning and field experience efforts. Examples include a project on fetal alcohol syndrome, registration systems developed for businesses and for nonprofits, and a “post-storm” study on how the public responds to weather warnings.
Betty Schnettler, United Way director of partnerships and services, is scheduled to offer closing remarks at 10:15 a.m. Project awards will be presented at 10:25 a.m.
St. Cloud State’s Volunteer Connection has developed partnerships with approximately 100 area organizations, service providers, businesses and the community to help students develop leadership skills and civic responsibility through service.
