Fire drills begin Wednesday

Monday, November 3, 2008

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State University will conduct mandatory fire drills Nov. 5 through Nov. 7.

The drills will familiarize students and staff with building-evacuation routes. To minimize disruption, the drills are scheduled for the last 10 minutes of class.

Faculty and staff should not schedule activities or critical work processes during the drill period.

When the fire alarm sounds, quickly secure valuables and proceed immediately to the building’s assembly location. Office and department managers should ensure everyone has been evacuated and doors are locked.

Mobility-challenged persons may use elevators, remain in stairwell areas to await assistance, or call Public Safety at 320-308-3333 with their location.

Safety Committee members, wearing red vests, will assist with evacuation. Safety Committee members will then conduct a building sweep.

Everyone is to remain in the assembly area for 10 minutes or until an “All Clear” megaphone announcement is made, whichever comes first.

Visit our Occupational Safety & Health web site for maps and other details.
