Headliners, premiere at Lemonade Concert & Art Fair

Michael Halstenson's works have been performed in Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and Tampere Hall, Finland. Daniel O'Bryant, assistant professor of music, will conduct the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra during the Lemonade Concert Robert Robinson, award-winning gospel signer and director of the Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir. A cappella group Tonic Sol-fa has performed on NBC's TODAY Show and headlined a public television Christmas special. Paul Imholte plays hammered dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, autoharp, harmonica, jaw harp and spoons. 

A cappella group Tonic Sol-fa and gospel vocalist Robert Robinson will perform at the June 26 Lemonade Concert & Art Fair. And, composer Michael Halstenson will premiere an orchestra work in tribute to a longtime fair organizer.

The art, crafts and entertainment extravaganza runs 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on campus grounds surrounding Atwood Memorial Center. The fair is the opening event of St. Cloud�s Granite City Days.

The fair also will host the premiere of "Ginny's Serenade," a Halstenson composition written in tribute to Ginny Tennant, a lead organizer of the Lemonade Concert & Art Fair for 35 years. The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra will perform the piece, which was commissioned by Tennant's friends, during an 8 p.m. performance on the Atwood Mall. Conducting will be Daniel O'Bryant, assistant professor of music and St. Cloud State's director of orchestras.

Halstenson conducts two performing groups based in Anoka, Minn.: the Northern Symphony Orchestra and the Lake Wobegon Brass Band. He teaches at Anoka High School, where he directs the orchestra and theater programs.

Tonic Sol-fa is a Minnesota-based group reknowned for staging incredible performances with just four voices and a tambourine. The group�s television credits include a TODAY Show appearance on NBC and a public television Christmas special.

Robert Robinson is an award-winning gospel singer who has worked with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Prince, Andrae Crouch, Barry Manilow and Lorie Line. He also is executive director and artistic director of the Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir.

String musician Paul Imholte will provide strolling music on fiddle, guitar, dulcimer and more. The St. Cloud resident has released six recordings, including "The First Noel," a CD of Christmas songs on the hammered dulcimer.

  • Granite City Days Opening Ceremony with the Mayor�s Rock-on Awards and a performance by Robert Robinson � 7 p.m.
  • St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra � 8 p.m.

The 35th annual Lemonade Art Fair is produced by the students and staff of University Program Board.
