Breast cancer walk Oct. 19
Monday, October 7, 2013
Walkers stream out of Halenbeck Hall fieldhouse at the 2012 Makings Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
Supporters, family and survivors will join the Oct. 19 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) fundraising walk.
The annual walk at St. Cloud State is part of an American Cancer Society effort in nearly 300 American communities. As of 10:30 a.m. CDT Oct. 14, 70 teams and 382 participants from the St. Cloud area had pledged $39,029. Funds raised will support breast cancer research and programs.
There is a $25 registration fee. Each registered walker receives a T-shirt. Day of registration fee is $35. The fee counts toward your fundraising goal. Breast cancer survivors do not pay a registration free.
Each walker is encouraged to raise at least $100, but to set an even higher goal. Local organizers encourage people who can't make a donation or who aren't able to ask others to contribute to come out and show support by walking in your local event.
Participants may choose between a one- and three-mile route.
