Sue and Paul Westmark are the recipients of the Hugh M. Jenkins Award for Excellence in Community Programming.
For nearly three decades of service to St. Cloud State international students, Sue and Paul Westmark are the recipients of the Hugh M. Jenkins Award for Excellence in Community Programming.
The national award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting global understanding and international exchange in the local community.
Given by the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers, the award honors people who exemplify a spirit of volunteerism and a long-term dedication to international exchange.
The Westmarks assist with cultural sharing programs, holiday celebrations and new international student orientation. They also recruit local residents to engage with St. Cloud State's international community, promoting the cultural events to the community and working with community members to coordinate meals for international students during holidays.
The St. Cloud couple was honored at the Aug. 20 International Student and Scholar Welcome Dinner in Atwood Memorial Center.
The dinner was hosted by the Center for International Studies.
The Westmarks were nominated for the award by Kristy Modrow, learning and outreach coordinator for the School of Public Affairs.
