Men's hockey celebration

Campus and community are invited to celebrate the historic men's Husky Hockey season April 17 at the National Hockey and Event Center.

Doors open at 4 p.m. The celebration will begin 5 p.m. at center ice.

Coach Bob Motzko '89 and the Huskies earned a share of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association title and won the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship.

The Huskies fell April 11 to Quinnipiac University at the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh. A day later senior captain Drew LeBlanc received the Hobey Baker Memorial Award as the outstanding player in college hockey.

Former Husky hockey player and Fox9 News anchor Jeff Passolt will emcee Wednesday's celebration.

Fans will hear from university officials, Motzko and players. Husky Productions will display video highlights from the season.

Players will sign autographs at the arena's north concourse. Fans are limited to two autograph items per athlete.

A commemorative poster can be purchased for $2 at the arena's Husky Bookstore stand. Concessions will be available.

Fans may park in K Lot south of the NHEC and enter at the west entrance. Seating will be on the north side.

The celebration is free and open to the public.
