St. Cloud State announces the resignation of David DeGroote from his position as dean of the College of Science and Engineering, effective June 1.
DeGroote has been a visionary and dedicated leader of the College of Science and Engineering through years of change and progress.
This includes leadership in the evolution and reorganization of academic programs in his college as well as planning and development of the Integrated Science and Engineering Laboratory Facility (ISELF), which is slated to be complete in August.
He also has been instrumental in building and strengthening partnerships with science-based business and industry and will continue to serve St. Cloud State in other roles.
Degroote has served St. Cloud State as a faculty member (1985-1996), chair of the Department of Biological Sciences (1996-2003) and dean of the College of Science & Engineering (2003-2013).
Dan Gregory, associate provost for research and dean of graduate studies, will be interim dean. He will continue the work of repositioning the College of Science and Engineering and the School of Computing, Engineering and Environment.
A national search will be launched this fall, with a new leader expected by July 1, 2014.
