The hottest Internet meme is alive-and-kicking in the middle of Minnesota.
To-date, St. Cloud State entities have produced six versions of the "Harlem Shake" dance-video, a craze that erupted worldwide in February. There are numerous off-campus versions, as well.
"Harlem Shake," by Harry "Baauer" Rodrigues, was released commercially in June 2012. Sales exploded in February when a 30-second YouTube version sparked more than 3,000 imitation videos, according to Wikipedia.
A YouTube keyword search produces nearly 97,000 results, not all of which are the meme videos of the moment. Harlem Shake also refers to a 1981 dance style, with Ethiopian origins, that emerged from the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan.
